Welcome to the thislittlebird Bespoke Service.

Collaborating with you on your outfits for special occasions in your life is a process I adore as a Maker. So what happens in a bespoke service? You get in touch with me with your request. I’ll listen, make suggestions and work with you on a design. We’ll then meet up where I’ll take your measurements, show you initial designs and samples based on your ideas and thoughts and discuss a budget. It is a couture process, so I’ll make up a toile (mock up in calico) for an initial fitting, then make any required adjustments before moving on to making the final garment. There are usually a couple more fittings to make further adjustments as required before the final outfit is completed. I’ll usually ask for a 50% deposit up front at the outset and the balance on completion. The whole process can take 4 months but do get in touch if you’re in a rush and I can see what we can do in the time available to us.

Just go to the Contact page and send me an email with your request and brief details of what you’re looking for. I am so looking forward to hearing from you xx Becky, Designer/Maker, thislittlebird

This is me in the wedding dress I made for myself from vintage 1960’s guipure lace that I found fossicking in an antique shop in Paeroa. Check out Maggie’s Wedding Dress story for her experience of the thislittlebird Bespoke Service below:

Photographer Maggie’s Ivory Duchess Satin Wedding Dress with French Silk Tulle Veil and Cape: Fun, modern with a hint off tradition

“Becky created for me a bespoke wedding dress of my dreams.

Heading into my ‘wedding dress journey' I knew I wanted to work with someone who I would feel comfortable with. I never envisioned myself as the person going into multiple shops trying on different dresses so I knew I was wanting to get something made.”

“Becky has made dresses for me and my sister before and so I knew she would be the perfect person to make my wedding dress. As soon as she said yes to the challenge a massive weight was lifted off my shoulders. We started sending each other photos of dresses we liked and straight away we were on the same page.

Once we started the process Becky kept me in the loop the entire way, touching base on fabric options and bouncing off sleeve ideas which I absolutely loved as it meant I felt in the loop the whole way.”

“When it came to the finished product it was everything and more. I loved the fact that this was a bespoke dress for ME. Having little elements that spoke to myself.

I love a little drama and wanted a hint of tradition by walking in with a full veil, so Becky came up with this amazing cape design that clipped onto my straps. This allowed me to have that moment as well as having a beautiful draping train.”

“We also agreed on having pockets, cause let’s be honest every dress needs pockets! I loved this as it made me feel a little more casual and at ease. I also snuck in a disposable camera so halfway through the ceremony I could take some photos.”

Be you on your big day of love…..

Remember, it doesn’t need to be white. It doesn't need to be long. It doesn’t need to be a gown or feature a skirt….just be you….
